We present a model for inclusive electron and neutrino scattering off nuclei paying special attention to the influence of in-medium effects on the quasi-elastic scattering and pion-production mechanisms. Our results for electron scattering off Oxygen are compared to experimental data at beam energies ranging from 0.7-1.5 GeV. The good description of electron scattering serves as a benchmark for neutrino scattering.
A parton picture of inclusive quasi-elastic electron-nucleus scattering, where individual nucleons are treated as (non point-like) partons of the nucleus, is presented. All the necessary target-mass corrections to asymptotic scaling are evaluated and a new scaling variable is obtained. Recent inclusive data from Jefferson Lab are analyzed and shown to scale in terms of the new variable. The new approach allows to extract in a model-independent way the nucleon light-cone momentum distribution in the nucleus.
We investigate inclusive omega photoproduction off complex nuclei, concentrating on the feasibility to examine a possible in-medium change of the omega meson properties by observing the pi^0 gamma invariant mass spectrum. The simulations are performed by means of a BUU transport model including a full coupled-channel treatment of the final state interactions. In-medium changes of the omega spectral density are found to yield a moderate modification of the observables as compared to the situation in free space. Also the effects of a momentum dependence of the strong omega potential are discusse…
We describe a light-cone wave function formulation for hadroproduction of heavy-flavors at high energies. At moderate values of $x_F$ heavy-flavor production can be viewed as a diffractive excitation of heavy quark-antiquark Fock states, present in the interacting gluon from the projectile. The approach developed here is well suited to address coherence effects in heavy-quark production from nuclei at small values of $x_{t} \lsim 0.1\cdot A^{-1/3}$.
The nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) of gluons are known to be difficult to determine with fits of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) and Drell-Yan (DY) data alone. Therefore, the nCTEQ15 analysis of nuclear PDFs added inclusive neutral pion production data from RHIC to help in constraining the gluon. In this analysis, we present a new global analysis of nuclear PDFs based on a much larger set of single inclusive light hadron data from RHIC and the LHC. Using our new nCTEQ code (nCTEQ++) with an optimized version of INCNLO we study systematically the limitations of the theory and the…
It is shown that in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) of electrons off a complex nucleus A, the detection, in coincidence with the scattered electron, of a nucleus (A-1) in the ground state, as well as of a nucleon and a nucleus (A-2), also in the ground state, may provide unique information on several long standing problems, such as : i) the nature and the relevance of the final state interaction in DIS; ii) validity of the spectator mechanism in DIS; iii) the medium induced modifications of the nucleon structure function; iv) the origin of the EMC effect.
Multiple scattering leads to transverse momentum broadening of the struck quark in semi-inclusive deeply inelastic scatterings (SIDIS). Nuclear broadening of the transverse momentum squared at the leading twist is determined by the twist-four collinear quark-gluon correlation function of the target nucleus that is in turn related to the jet transport parameter inside the nuclear medium. The twist-six contributions to the transverse momentum broadening are calculated as power corrections $\sim 1/Q^2$. Such power corrections are found to have no extra nuclear enhancement beyond the twist-four ma…
Finite Formation Time (FFT) effects in the exclusive reaction ^4He(e,e'p)^3H at high values of Q^2 are introduced and discussed. It is shown that the minimum in the momentum distributions predicted by the Plane Wave Impulse Approximation (PWIA), which is filled by the Glauber-type Final State Interaction (FSI), is completely recovered when FFT effects are taken into account. The semi-inclusive process ^4 He(e,e'p)X is also investigated.
We compare local Fermi gas and shell model in muon capture in nuclei in order to estimate the effect of finite nuclear size in low energy weak reactions.
The semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of electrons off a nucleus A with detection of a slow nucleus (A-1) in the ground or low excitation states, i.e. the process A(e,e'(A-1))X, can provide useful information on the origin of the EMC effect and the mechanisms of hadronization. The theoretical description of the process is reviewed and the results of several calculations on few-body systems and complex nuclei are presented.
We show that quasi-elastic inclusive scattering data on light nuclei for medium Q^2 furnish information on $G_M^n$, whereas the deep-inelastic region for large $Q^2$ provides the Structure Function $F_2^n(x,Q^2)$. Common to the two extractions is the possibility to de-convolute medium effects, which is most accurately done for light targets. Results are independent of the target.
The effects of short range correlations (SRC) in inclusive (A(e,e')X) and exclusive (A(e,e'N)X and A(e,e'2N)X) are reviewed. A new approach to the analysis of inclusive cross sections is illustrated, based upon the introduction of proper scaling functions and variables which incorporate the effects of two- and three-nucleon SRC. The approach is used to interpret the plateaux observed in the CLAS inclusive cross section ratios of 4He, 12C and 56Fe to 3He.
Using the formalism obtained from collinear expansion, we calculate the differential cross section and azimuthal asymmetries in semi-inclusive deeply inelastic lepton-nucleon (nucleus) scattering process $e^-+N (A) \to e^-+q+X$ with both polarized beam and polarized target up to twist-3. We derive the azimuthal asymmetries in terms of twist-3 parton correlation functions. We simplify the results by using the QCD equation of motion that leads to a set of relationships between different twist-3 functions. We further study the nuclear dependence of azimuthal asymmetries and show that they have si…
The effects of the final state interaction (FSI) in semi inclusive deep inelastic electron scattering processes $A(e,e'p)X$ off nuclei are investigated in details. Proton production is described within the spectator and the target fragmentation mechanisms whose relevance to the experimental study of the deep inelastic structure functions of bound nucleons and the non perturbative hadronization process is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the deuteron target within kinematical conditions corresponding to the available and forthcoming experimental data at Jlab. We argue that there are ki…
It is shown that, if inclusive lepton scattering off nuclei at high momentum transfer is analyzed in terms of proper scaling variables, useful information on Nucleon-Nucleon short range correlations in nuclei can be obtained. The traditional approach to Y-scaling is critically analyzed and a novel approach to Y-scaling, which incorporates the effects from two- and three-nucleon correlations in nuclei, is illustrated.
The effects of the final state interaction on the production of slow protons in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic lepton scattering off nuclei is considered within the spectator mechanism and a realistic approach in which the rescattering in the medium of both the recoiling proton and the hadronizing nucleon debris are taken into account.
The recent TJLAB experimental data on inclusive electron scattering at high momentum transfer from complex nuclei are analyzed in terms of y-scaling, taking into account the final state interaction (FSI) of the struck, off-shell nucleon. It is shown that at large negative values of y (x>1), the Q^2 dependence of the FSI is mostly driven by the elastic nucleon-nucleon cross section, and that, as a result, the scaling function decreases with Q^2, in agreement with experimental data.
We calculate the cross section of a single inclusive gluon production in deep inelastic scattering at very high energies in the saturation regime, where the parton densities inside hadrons and nuclei are large and the evolution of structure functions with energy is nonlinear. The expression we obtain for the inclusive gluon production cross section is generated by this nonlinear evolution. We analyze the rapidity distribution of the produced gluons as well as their transverse momentum spectrum given by the derived expression for the inclusive cross section. We propose an ansatz for the multipl…
We investigate the degree to which the concept of superscaling, initially developed within the framework of the relativistic Fermi gas model, applies to inclusive electron scattering from nuclei. We find that data obtained from the low energy loss side of the quasielastic peak exhibit the superscaling property, i.e., the scaling functions f(ψ') are not only independent of momentum transfer (the usual type of scaling: scaling of the first kind), but coincide for A \geq 4 when plotted versus a dimensionless scaling variable ψ' (scaling of the second kind). We use this behavior to study as yet po…
A relativistic non-local model for the inclusive photoproduction of $η$ mesons from complex nuclei is introduced. The model is based on the dominance of the S$_{11}$(1535) resonance. We compare the results of our calculations with the available data on inclusive cross sections for the nuclei C, Al and Cu. Assuming the resonance propagates freely in the nuclear medium, we find that the calculated angular distribution and energy dependence of the cross sections reproduce the data in a reasonable fashion. The present non-local model allows the inclusion of density dependent mass and width in the …
The Quasi-Elastic (QE) contribution of the nuclear inclusive electron scattering model developed in Nucl. Phys. A627 (1997) 543 is extended to the study of electroweak Charged Current (CC) induced nuclear reactions, at intermediate energies of interest for future neutrino oscillation experiments. The model accounts for, among other nuclear effects, long range nuclear (RPA) correlations, Final State Interaction (FSI) and Coulomb corrections. Predictions for the inclusive muon capture in $^{12}$C and the reaction $^{12}$C $(ν_μ,μ^-)X$ near threshold are also given. RPA correlations are shown to …
The centrality dependencies of the inclusive neutral pion and prompt photon nuclear modification factors for p+Pb collisions at the LHC are studied using a spatially dependent set of nuclear PDFs, EPS09s. The calculations are performed at mid- and forward rapidities searching for an observable which would optimally probe the spatial dependence of the nuclear PDFs. In addition, we discuss to which $x$ values of the nucleus the different observables are sensitive.
The nuclear transparency of the charged hadron produced in the inclusive $(e,e^\prime)$ reaction on the nucleus has been calculated using Glauber model for the nuclear reaction. The color transparency (CT) of the produced hadron and the short-range correlation (SRC) of the nucleons in the nucleus have been incorporated in the Glauber model to investigate their effects on the nuclear transparency of the hadron. The calculated nuclear transparencies for the proton and pion are compared with the data.
Color transparency is studied for the $K^+$ meson produced due to large four-momentum transfer in the $(e,e^\prime)$ reaction on nuclei. The variation of the $K^+$ meson color transparency ($K^+$CT) with the photon virtuality, and kaon momentum is investigated. The calculated results for $K^+$CT are compared with the data reported from Jefferson Laboratory.
Inclusive quasi-elastic electron scattering off nuclei is investigated at high momentum transfer (Q^2>1 (GeV/c)^2) and x>1 adopting a consistent treatment of nucleon-nucleon correlations in initial and final states. It is shown that in case of light as well as complex nuclei the inclusive cross section at 1.3<x<2 is dominated by the absorption of the virtual photon on a pair of correlated nucleons and by their elastic rescattering in the continuum, whereas at x>2 it is governed by the rescattering of the outgoing off-mass-shell nucleon in the complex optical potential generated by the ground s…
The inclusive quasielastic response functions that appear in the scattering of polarized electrons from polarized nuclei are computed and analyzed for several closed-shell-minus-one nuclei with special attention paid to 39K. Results are presented using two models for the ejected nucleon --- when described by a distorted wave in the continuum shell model or by a plane wave in PWIA with on- and off-shell nucleons. Relativistic effects in kinematics and in the electromagnetic current have been incorporated throughout. Specifically, the recently obtained expansion of the electromagnetic current in…
We study total muon capture rates in light nuclei, taking into account renormalizations of the nuclear vector and axial vector strengths. We estimate the influence in the results of uncertainties of the spin-isospin interaction parameter and nuclear densities. A few of these reactions are theoretical benchmarks for physics involving searches for neutrino oscillations. New experiments in muon capture in several targets are suggested, in the light of some discrepancies with theory, crudeness of some experimental results and relevance to neutrino physics.
We demonstrate that refinements in the analysis of inclusive scattering data on light nuclei enable the extraction of, generally accurate, values of the neutron magnetic form factor G_M^n(Q^2). In particular, a recent parametrization of ep inclusive resonance excitation enables a reliable calculation of the inelastic background, and as a consequence a separation of quasi-elastic and inelastic contributions. A far larger number of data points than previously considered is now available for analysis and enables a more reliable extraction of G_M^n from cross section and R_T data on D and He. The …
Semiclassical distorted wave model is developed to describe $(π^-,K^+)$ inclusive spectra related to $Σ^-$-formation measured at KEK with $p_π=1.2$ GeV/c. The shape and magnitude of the spectrum on $^{28}$Si target are satisfactorily reproduced by a repulsive $Σ$-nucleus potential, the strength of which is of the order of 30$\sim$50 MeV. This strength is not so strong as more than 100 MeV suggested by the estimation presented in the report of the experiment.
We extend the study of nuclear dependence of the transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions and azimuthal asymmetries to semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) off polarized nuclear targets. We show that azimuthal asymmetries are suppressed for SIDIS off a polarized nuclear target relative to that off a polarized nucleon due to multiple scattering inside the nucleus. Using the value of transport parameter inside large nuclei extracted from jet quenching analyses in SIDIS off nuclear targets, we also present a numerical estimate of the nuclear suppression of the azimu…
We compare the predictions of the SuSAv2 model including two-particle two-hole meson-exchange currents with the recent JLab data for inclusive electron scattering on three different targets (C, Ar and Ti). The agreement is very good over the full energy spectrum, with some discrepancy seen only in the deep inelastic region. The 2p2h response, peaked in the dip region between the quasielastic and $Δ$-resonance peak, is essential to reproduce the data. We also analyze the $k_F$ (Fermi momentum) dependence of the data in terms of scaling of second kind, showing that the 2p2h response scales very …
We calculate $Λ$ and $\barΛ$ hadron production cross sections in charged lepton semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering off nuclear target ($A$, using iron $\mathrm{Fe}$ as an example) and deuteron ($D$) target. The results show that the ratio $(\barΛ^{A}/Λ^{A})/(\barΛ^{D}/Λ^{D})$ is sensitive to the sea quark content of the nucleus. We adopt three different models to take the nuclear EMC effect into account. The ratio $(\barΛ^{A}/Λ^{A})/(\barΛ^{D}/Λ^{D})$ is predicted to be different by these different models.
We present a detailed description of high-energy neutrino and antineutrino inelastic inclusive scattering off nuclei in terms of nuclear structure functions. In our approach we take into account a QCD description of the nucleon structure functions as well as a number of basic nuclear effects including nuclear shadowing, Fermi motion and binding, nuclear pion excess and off-shell correction to bound nucleon structure functions. These effects prove to be important in the studies of charged-lepton deep-inelastic scattering. We discuss similarities and dissimilarities in the calculation of nuclear…
The production of slow nucleons in semi-inclusive deep inelastic electron scattering off nuclei, $A(e, e'N)X$, is analyzed for kinematical conditions accessible at $HERA$ with the $HERMES$ detector. The sensitivity of the semi-inclusive cross section to possible medium-dependent modifications of the nucleon structure function is illustrated.
Based on a prior determination of the $ϕ$ selfenergy in a nuclear medium we perform a theoretical study of inclusive $ϕ$ photoproduction in nuclei, looking at the $A$ dependence of the cross sections for different $ϕ$ momenta. We find sizeable reductions in the nuclear cross sections with respect to the elementary one, using a $ϕ$ selfenergy which implies a width about six times the free one at normal nuclear density. The calculations are done to match the set up for an ongoing experiment at {\it SPring8/Osaka} which should provide valuable information on the renormalization of the $ϕ$ propert…
We study the inclusive $(e,e^\prime N)$, $(e,e^\prime NN)$, $(e,e^\prime π)$, $(e,e^\prime πN)$ reactions in nuclei using a Monte Carlo simulation method to treat the multichannel problem of the final state. The input consists of reaction probabilities for the different steps evaluated using microscopical many body methods. We obtain a good agreement with experiment in some channels where there is data and make predictions for other channels which are presently under investigation in several electron laboratories. The comparison of the theoretical results with experiment for several kinematica…
It is shown, that the exponential decrease of the energy spectra of the fragments with growing its energy, which does not depend from the fragment type, targets, projectiles and projectile energies, and which sometimes accompanied slight oscillations, can be explained by the phenomenon of time resonances. These time resonances correspond to decay of intermediate excited nuclear composite system. For the first time, expressions for the decay rate and the probability of survival of such system as a function of time are obtained. Inclusive spectra for two real high-energy nuclear reactions are ca…
We calculate the centrality dependence of the midrapidity nuclear modification for inclusive prompt photon production in d+Au and Au+Au collisions at RHIC and in p+Pb and Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC. Our results, using the recent spatially dependent nuclear PDF set EPS09s, are consistent with the existing high-pT data from the PHENIX and CMS collaborations. The good agreement even in the case of nucleus+nucleus collisions suggests that the high-pT direct photon production is not significantly altered by the strongly interacting medium produced in such collisions. We find the centrality depende…
I review the description of the electroweak nuclear response at large momentum transfer within nonrelativistic many-body theory. Special consideration is given to the effects of final state interactions, which are known to be large in both inclusive and semi-inclusive processes. The results of theoretical calculations of electron-nucleus scattering observables are compared to the data, and the generalization to charged current neutrino-nucleus interactions is discussed.
The semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering of electrons off the deuteron ($^2H \equiv D$) and $^3He$ with detection of slow protons and deuterons, respectively, i.e. the processes $D(e,e'p)X$ and $^3He(e,e'D)X$, are calculated within the spectator mechanism, taking into account the final state interaction of the hadronizing quark with the detected protons and deuterons, respectively. It is shown that by a proper choice of the kinematics the origin of the EMC effect and the details of the interaction between the hadronizing quark and the nuclear medium can be investigated at a level which can…
We discuss applications of previously computed nuclear structure functions (SF) to inclusive cross sections, compare predictions with recent CEBAF data and perform two scaling tests. We mention that the large $Q^2$ plateau of scaling functions may only in part be due to the asymptotic limit of SF, which prevents the extraction of the nucleon momentum distribution in a model-independent way. We show that there may be sizable discrepancies between computed and semi-heuristic estimates of SF ratios. We compute ratios of moments of nuclear SF and show these to be in reasonable agreement with data.…
With our coupled jet-fluid model, we study the nuclear modifications of full jets and jet structures for single inclusive jets and $γ$-jets in Pb+Pb collisions at $5.02$~ATeV and $2.76$~ATeV. The in-medium evolution of full jet shower is described by a set of coupled transport equations including the effects of collisional energy loss, transverse momentum broadening and medium-induced splitting process. The dynamical evolution of bulk medium is simulated by solving relativistic hydrodynamic equation with source term which accounts for the energy and momentum deposited by hard jet shower to sof…
We present, using the statistical model, an analysis of the production of light nuclei, hypernuclei and their antiparticles in central collisions of heavy nuclei. Based on these studies we provide predictions for the production yields of multiply-strange light nuclei.
The inclusive breakup of three-fragment projectiles is discussed within a four-body spectator model. Both the elastic breakup and the non-elastic breakup are obtained in a unified framework. Originally developed in the 80's for two-fragment projectiles such as the deuteron, in this paper the theory is successfully generalized to three-fragment projectiles. The expression obtained for the inclusive cross section allows the extraction of the incomplete fusion cross section, and accordingly generalizes the surrogate method to cases such as (t,p) and (t,n) reactions. It is found that two-fragment …
Recent measurements of the centrality and rapidity dependence of single inclusive jet production in p+Pb collisions at the LHC have revealed large and non-trivial nuclear modification of the production cross section for this process. In this paper, we explore to what extent such nuclear modification can be understood by the framework of standard cold nuclear matter effects, in particular initial-state cold nuclear matter energy loss. We demonstrate quantitatively that theoretical calculations which include medium-induced radiative corrections can describe rather reasonably the attenuation of t…
By considering the $x$-dependence of $π^+$, $π^-$, $K^+$, $K^-$, $Λ$, $\barΛ$, $p$, $\bar{p}$ hadron productions in charged lepton semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering off nuclear target (using Fe as an example) and deuteron D target, % at $Q^2=5$ GeV$^2$, we find that $(\barΛ^A/Λ^A)/(\barΛ^D/Λ^D)$ and $({\bar{p}}^A/{p}^A)/({\bar{p}}^A/p^A)$ are ideal to figure out the nuclear sea content, which is predicted to be different by different models accounting for the nuclear EMC effect.
The final state interaction in DIS of leptons off a nucleus A, due to the propagation of the struck nucleon debris and its hadronization in the nuclear environment is considered. The effective cross section of such a partonic system with the nucleons of the medium and its time dependence are estimated on the basis of a model which takes into account the production of hadrons due to the breaking of the color string and to gluon radiation. It is shown that the details of the propagation of the partonic system in the nuclear environment can be thoroughly investigated by the semi-inclusive process…
In this paper we present a comprehensive study of inclusive hadron production in DIS at low $x$. Properties of the hadron spectrum are different in different kinematic regions formed by three relevant momentum scales: photon virtuality $Q^2$, hadron transverse momentum $k_T$ and the saturation momentum $Q_s(x)$. We investigate each kinematic region and derive the corresponding asymptotic formulas for the cross section at the leading logarithmic order. We also analyze the next-leading-order (NLO) corrections to the BFKL kernel that are responsible for the momentum conservation. In particular, w…
We compare recent CEBAF data on inclusive electron scattering on nuclei with predictions, based on a relation between structure functions (SF) of a nucleus, a nucleon and a nucleus of point-nucleons. The latter contains nuclear dynamics, e.g. binary collision contributions in addition to the asymptotic limit. The agreement with the data is good, except in low-intensity regions. Computed ternary collsion contributions appear too small for an explanation. We perform scaling analyses in Gurvitz's scaling variable and found that for $y_G\gtrless 0$, ratios of scaling functions for pairs of nuclei …
The long-standing puzzle of the quenched $g_A$ in nuclei -- and in dense matter -- is shown to have a simple resolution in a scale-symmetric HLS chiral Lagrangian at the Fermi-liquid fixed point. This resolution exposes scale-chiral symmetry, hidden in QCD in the vacuum, emerging in nuclear matter from low density to high compact-star density. It has important implications on "first principles" approaches to nuclear physics, such as the role of multi-body exchange currents in Gamow-Teller matrix elements in nuclei and in neutrinoless double $β$ decays for going Beyond the Standard Model.
We derive the inclusive breakup cross section of a three-fragment projectile nuclei, $a = b +x_1 + x_2$, in the spectator model. The resulting four-body cross section for observing $b$, is composed of the elastic breakup cross section which contains information about the correlation between the two participant fragments, and the inclusive non-elastic breakup cross section. This latter cross section is found to be a non-trivial four-body generalization of the Austern formula \cite{Austern1987}, which is proportional to a matrix element of the form, $\langle\hatρ_{{x_1},{x_2}}\left|\left[W_{x_1}…
Motivated by recent studies of inclusive neutrino nucleus processes and muon capture within a correlated local Fermi gas model (LFG), we discuss the relevance of nuclear finite size effects in these reactions at low energy, in particular for muon capture. To disentangle these effects from others coming from the reaction dynamics we employ here a simple uncorrelated shell model that embodies the typical finite size content of the problem. The integrated decay widths of muon atoms calculated with this shell model are then compared for several nuclei with those obtained within the uncorrelated LF…

We present a model for weak CC induced nuclear reactions at energies of interest for current and future neutrino oscillation experiments. This model is a natural extension of the work of Refs.[1,2], where the QE contribution to the inclusive electron and neutrino scattering on nuclei was analyzed. The model is based on a systematic many body expansion of the gauge boson absorption modes that includes one, two and even three body mechanisms, as well as the excitation of Delta isobars. The whole scheme has no free parameters, besides those previously adjusted to the weak pion production off the …
We compute diffractive structure functions for both protons and nuclei in the framework of Color Glass Condensate models with impact parameter dependence. These models have previously been shown to provide good agreement with inclusive F_2 measurements and exclusive vector meson measurements at HERA. For nuclei, they provide good (parameter free) agreement with the inclusive F_2 data. We demonstrate good agreement of our computations with HERA measurements on inclusive diffraction. We extend our analysis to nuclei and predict the pattern of enhancement and suppression of the diffractive struct…
The prospect of a rare isosotope accelerator facility opens up possibilities for a new generation of nuclear tests of fundamental symmetries. In this talk, I survey the current landscape of such tests and discuss future opportunities that a new facility might present.
The Quasi-Elastic (QE) contribution of the nuclear inclusive electron model developed in reference \cite{GNO97} is extended to the study of electroweak Charged Current (CC) induced nuclear reactions at intermediate energies of interest for future neutrino oscillation experiments. Long range nuclear (RPA) correlations, Final State Interaction (FSI) and Coulomb corrections are included within the model. RPA correlations are shown to play a crucial role in the whole range of neutrino energies, up to 500 MeV, studied in this work. Predictions for inclusive muon capture for different nuclei through…
The nuclear electric dipole moment is a very sensitive probe of CP violation beyond the standard model, and for light nuclei, it can be evaluated accurately using few-body calculational methods. In this talk, we present the deuteron, $^3$He, $^3$H, $^6$Li, and $^9$Be electric dipole moments calculated using the Gaussian expansion method with a realistic nuclear force, and assuming the one-meson exchange model for the P, CP-odd nuclear force. We then give future prospects for models beyond the standard model such as the supersymmetry.
A linked cluster expansion for the distorted one-body mixed density matrix is obtained within the Glauber multiple scattering theory with correlated wave functions. The nuclear transparency for 16O is calculated using realistic central and non-central correlations. The convergence of the expansion is investigated in the case of 4He for which the transparency and the distorted momentum distributions are calculated to all order in the correlations using a variational wave function obtained from realistic NN interactions. The important role played by non central correlations is illustrated.
