We prove the existence of an ergodic measure with full Hausdorff dimension for a class of nonlinear nonconformal skew-product transformations. In order to do so we establish a variational principle for the topological pressure of certain noncompact sets.

Dimension Theory of some non-Markovian repellers Part I: A gentle introduction

Michael Barnsley introduced a family of fractals sets which are repellers of piecewise affine systems. The study of these fractals was motivated by certain problems that arose in fractal image compression but the results we obtained can be applied for the computation of the Hausdorff dimension of the graph of some functions, like generalized Takagi functions and fractal interpolation functions. On the uniqueness of an ergodic measure of full dimension for non-conformal repellers

We give a subclass L of Non-linear Lalley-Gatzouras carpets and an open set U in L such that any carpet in U has a unique ergodic measure of full dimension. In particular, any Lalley-Gatzouras carpet which is close to a non-trivial general Sierpinski carpet has a unique ergodic measure of full dimension.

The packing spectrum for Birkhoff averages on a self-affine repeller

We consider the multifractal analysis for Birkhoff averages of continuous potentials on a self-affine Sierpiński sponge. In particular, we give a variational principal for the packing dimension of the level sets. Furthermore, we prove that the packing spectrum is concave and continuous. We give a sufficient condition for the packing spectrum to be real analytic, but show that for general Hölder continuous potentials, this need not be the case. Dimensions of compact invariant sets of some expanding maps

We study the Hausdorff dimension and measures of full Hausdorff dimension for a compact invariant set of an expanding nonconformal map on the torus given by an integer-valued diagonal matrix. The Hausdorff dimension of a "general Sierpinski carpet" was found by McMullen and Bedford and the uniqueness of the measure of full Hausdorff dimension in some cases was proved by Kenyon and Peres. Existence of a measurable saturated compensation function between subshifts and its applications

We show the existence of a bounded Borel measurable saturated compensation function for a factor map between subshifts. As an application, we find the Hausdorff dimension and measures of full Hausdorff dimension for a compact invariant set of an expanding nonconformal map on the torus given by an integer-valued diagonal matrix. The Hausdorff and dynamical dimensions of self-affine sponges: a dimension gap result

We construct a self-affine sponge in $\mathbb R^3$ whose dynamical dimension, i.e. the supremum of the Hausdorff dimensions of its invariant measures, is strictly less than its Hausdorff dimension. This resolves a long-standing open problem in the dimension theory of dynamical systems, namely whether every expanding repeller has an ergodic invariant measure of full Hausdorff dimension.
