Reply to Comments on "Stability of Tsallis antropy and instabilities of Renyi and normalized Tsallis entropies: A basis for q-exponential distributions"

Bashkirov's comments (cond-mat/0410667) on the paper [S. Abe, Phys. Rev. E 66, 046134 (2002)] are all refuted. In addition, it is discussed that the Renyi entropy is irrelevant to generalization of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics for complex systems.

Reply to C. Tsallis's "Comments on Critique of q-entropy for thermal statistics by M. Nauenberg"

In this note it is shown that in his ``Comments'', Tsallis did not point out any flaws in the main criticism of my paper, namely, that the nonextensive q-entropy formalism fails to satisfy the zeroth law of thermodynamics. Details are also given of a rigorous thermodynamic proof which demonstrates that, contrary to Tsallis's assertion, the application of a nonextensive formalism to black-body radiation does not lead to the well known $T^4$ Stefan-Boltzman law.

Reply to the Comment on``Scaling Laws for a System with Long--Range Interactions within Tsallis Statistics''

The fact that mean field theory is appropriate to describe an Ising model with long-range interactions has been already shown by Cannas and Tamarit. Although not explicited in our Letter, we have used periodic boundary conditions in all our simulations, such that the maximum possible distance between two lattice sites is L/2. We make no specific comments about the validity (or lack of validity) of Boltzmann-Gibbs statistical mechanics to describe long-range systems. Reply to the comment on "Route from discreteness to the continuum for the Tsallis $q$-entropy" by Congjie Ou and Sumiyoshi Abe

It has been known for some time that the usual $q$-entropy $S_q^{(n)}$ cannot be shown to converge to the continuous case. In [Phys. Rev. E 97 (2018) 012104], we have shown that the discrete $q$-entropy $\widetilde{S}_q^{(n)}$ converges to the continuous case when the total number of states are properly taken into account in terms of a convergence factor. Ou and Abe [Phys. Rev. E 97, (2018) 066101, arXiv:1801.03035] noted that this form of the discrete $q$-entropy does not conform to the Shannon-Khinchin expandability axiom. Reply to "Comment on "Troublesome aspects of the Renyi-MaxEnt treatment""

This Reply is intended as a refutation of the preceding Comment [Oikonomou and Bagci, Phys. Rev. E 96, 056101 (2017)] on our paper [Plastino et al., Phys. Rev. E 94, 012145 (2016).]. We show that the Tsallis probability distribution of our paper does not coincide with the Tsallis distribution studied by Oikonomou and Bagci. Consequently, their findings do not apply to our paper.

Tsallis' Statistics without probability distributions. REPLY to Comment on "Possible Divergences in Tsallis' Thermostatistics"

In a recent letter (EPL, 104 (2013) 60003) we suggested a way to avoid divergences inherent to the formulation of nonextensive statistical mechanics. They can be eliminated via the use of a q-Laplace transformation, which was illustrated for the case of the harmonic oscillator. Lutsko and Boon now contend, in an interesting comment, that our new formulation raises questions that they carefully discuss. Here we elaborate an explanation of the contents of (EPL, 104 (2013) 60003) that permits to appreciate our original Letter in a more positive fashion.

In defense of Tsallis' original probability distribution

Tsallis' pioneer q-probability distribution $P_i=\frac {[1+β(1-q)U_i]^{\frac {1} {q-1}}} {Z}$, $Z=\sum\limits_{i=1}^n [1+β(1-q)U_i]^{\frac {1} {q-1}}$ [J. of Stat. Phys., {\bf 52} (1988) 479] has been recently attacked in arXiv:1705.01752, in a Reply to our arXiv:1704.07493 publication. We show here that such an attack is groundless.

Nonextensive statistics and incomplete information

We comment on some open questions and theoretical peculiarities in Tsallis nonextensive statistical mechanics. It is shown that the theoretical basis of the successful Tsallis' generalized exponential distribution shows some worrying properties with the conventional normalization and the escort probability. These theoretical difficulties may be avoided by introducing an so called incomplete normalization allowing to deduce Tsallis' generalized distribution in a more convincing and consistent way.

Reply to M. Campisi [arXiv: 1310.5556]

In response to M. Campisi's comment [arXiv: 1310.5556] on our recent work [Phys. Rev. E 88, 042126 (2013)], we first point out that the distribution used by Campisi is not the correct escort distribution and further provide arguments showing that the distributions obtained from the finite bath scenario are not Tsallis distributions assuming the ergodicity of the total system. We also comment on the role of evidence mentioned by M. Campisi.

Non-extensive entropy from incomplete knowledge of Shannon entropy?

In this paper we give an interpretation of Tsallis' nonextensive statistical mechanics based upon the information-theoretic point of view of Luzzi et al. [cond-mat/0306217; cond-mat/0306247; cond-mat/0307325], suggesting Tsallis' entropy to be not a fundamental concept but rather a derived one, stemming from an incomplete knowledge of the system, not taking properly into account its interaction with the environment. This interpretation seems to avoid some problems occurring with the original interpretation of Tsallis statistics.

It is shown that the comment by Costa and Meneses [1] did not point any technical or conceptual flaw in our paper titled ``Conservative Force Fields in Nonextensive Kinetic Theory" (Physica A 316, 289 (2002)). Revisiting Claims in "Black Hole Entropy: A Closer Look"

Here we explain how C. Tsallis' reply (Entropy 2021, 23(5), 630) fails to respond to points raised in (Entropy 2020, 22(10), 1110) and introduces further inconsistencies on the origin of black hole entropy. In his reply, Tsallis argues that the extensivity of thermodynamical entropy with respect to chosen variables needs to be preserved. Consequently the entropy functional is inadequate for black holes. Here we explain the undesirable consequences of this reasoning on black hole thermodynamics.

Equilibrium statistical mechanics for incomplete nonextensive statistics

The incomplete nonextensive statistics in the canonical and microcanonical ensembles is explored in the general case and in a particular case for the ideal gas.
